Office Pool Picks: Week 2

September 12, 2019

It was a strong start across the board in my opening week of “Office Pool Picks” as I went 11-4-1 SU, nailed both Survivor picks and hit the Thursday night special with the +145 on the Packers Money Line. Let’s see if we can keep it going in Week 2.

SURVIVOR
Each week I will pick two games, my “Play it Safe” selection as well as my “Out on a Limb” pick:

Play It Safe: Patriots at MIA
Don’t overthink it. Stay alive for Week 3 by taking the Pats and sleeping like a baby. Historically Miami has been a tough spot for the Pats and the temperatures will be crazy hot, but it won’t matter. The Dolphins are taking it and destined for 0-16. They might win a few somehow, but it won’t come on Sunday.

Out on a Limb: Houston vs. JCK
The Texans blew it Monday Night in New Orleans, but they looked really good for long stretches of the game. Look for them to get over that tough loss by taking to the visiting Jags. Their division rivals will be without starting quarterback Nick Foles, who is expected to be out until Week 11 with a broken collarbone.

THURSDAY NIGHT SPECIAL
I am moving my complete “Against the Spread” plays to a separate article that will run each Saturday or Sunday morning this season. In its place here, I am introducing a new Thursday night betting recommendation. My starting Thursday night bankroll for the purposes of this article is $1000.

Starting Balance: $1000
Current Balance: $1145

The Pick:
$110 – Under 49 TB/CAR

The total opened at 51, but has since dropped two points or more across Vegas books as kickoff nears. While I do expect both offenses to improve after poor Week 1 outings, it’s a short week and Thursday games most often disappoint on the scoreboard. I think these teams will fall just short, go under.
