SURVIVOR
Each week I will pick two games, my “Play it Safe” selection as well as my “Out on a Limb” pick:

Play It Safe: Seahawks vs. CIN
Seattle has done a bit of a makeover this offseason on both sides of the ball, but with Russell Wilson and the 12th man on their side, I’ll take my chances. In an opening week that lacks any double-digit favorites opening up, the Seahawks are laying 9.5 points in this one.

Out on a Limb: Chargers vs. IND
Everyone will be picking against Indy in the wake of the Andrew Luck retirement and rightfully so, but discount how good the rest of the Colts are. I can get behind the Chargers as a pick here as they open at home. However, without Melvin Gordon is far from a given.

THURSDAY NIGHT SPECIAL
I am moving my complete “Against the Spread” plays to a separate article that will run each Saturday this season. In its place here, I am introducing a new Thursday night betting recommendation. My starting Thursday night bankroll for the purposes of this article is $1000.

The Pick:
$100 – Packers ML +145

This is a coin flip game for me honestly. The underdog has won outright in the Thursday night season opener in each of the past three seasons. I’ll take my chances here the Packers can keep that going tonight.
