The NFL season is seven weeks and the cream is starting to rise to the top around the league and your seeing that reflected in the latest standings.
Only two teams remain unbeaten, the New England Patriots and the San Francisco 49ers. In both cases it has been the defense that has led the way.
New England has only allowed 6.85 points per game to this point of the year and San Francisco is right behind, ceding just 9.14 points per contest.
Despite the similarities, in the world of NFL betting things are quite different now. In the latest Super Bowl futures, the Patriots are the chalk as a +250 favorite, but the 49ers (+900) aren’t event the second choice from Oddsmakers that distinction belongs to the New Orleans Saints. But since there are a lot of games that have to take place in the NFL first, we can’t actually know what to expect. This year’s NFL is sure attracting a lot of viewers and fans and the upcoming Super Bowl will sure be spectacular – even without knowing who will be the teams to play. The odds are always changing and we have to follow up closely.
The Saints sit at 6-1 and have now won five straight games since losing starting quarterback Drew Brees to a thumb injury. Teddy Bridgewater hasn’t posted eye-popping stats or showed high in any weekly fantasy rankings during his time as the starter, but he’s taking care of the football and that along with a great has the Saints winning the turnover battle.
A couple value picks out there right now could be the Green Bay Packers (+1000) and the Houston Texans (+3000). Both teams have great quarterbacks in Aaron Rodgers and DeShaun Watson and a decent enough defense that if they get hot will be tough outs come January.
it might be a good buy-low time on the Kansas City Chiefs (+1100) with the news of Patrick Mahomes going down with a dislocated knee cap. If he misses three weeks or less as some reports are suggesting this could be a steal. Kansas City is the AFC most capable of knocking out the Patriots.
The Los Angeles Rams made it to the Super Bowl a year ago, but Sean McVay’s team is not getting treated as serious contenders with their current +1800 price tag. Things don’t look the same on either side of the ball for the Rams this year, but coming off a 37-3 thrashing of the Atlanta Falcons in Week 6 does help boost some confidence in the team as contenders.
There are two teams that remain winless, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins already had their bye week so they have one less loss than the Bengals, but they are the longest shots to win the Super Bowl at +250000. No worries, Cincinnati is right behind at +200000.
