SURVIVOR
Each week I will pick two games, my “Play it Safe” selection as well as my “Out on a Limb” pick. So far my Play It Safe pick is 8-2 and my Out on a Limb selection is 8-2 on the year :
Play It Safe: 49ers
San Francisco has had back-to-back road games in Baltimore and New Orleans and now get to return home to welcome the lowly Falcons. With the No. 1 overall seed at stake, there is no time for letdowns. Look for the 49ers to roll easy here.
Out on a Limb: Raiders
The Raiders have been in a rut of late, dropping three straight games and falling out of the AFC Wildcard picture. Look for that to streak to come to and end against a team playing as bad as any football in what will be the last-ever game played in Oakland. Raiders win big here.

THURSDAY NIGHT SPECIAL
I am moving my complete “Against the Spread” plays to a separate article that will run each Saturday or Sunday morning this season. In its place here, I am introducing a new Thursday night betting recommendation. My starting Thursday night bankroll for the purposes of this article is $1000.
Starting Balance: $1000
Current Balance: $1105
The Pick:
$110 Under 45 BAL/NYJ
It’s hard for me to lay the 14.5 points here so I am going to take my chances at the under. The Jets’ rushing D isn’t bad so I don’t see the Ravens going off for more than 30 points here, but I’d be surprised if the Jets get past 10 point vs. this tenacious Ravens’ D. In the final Thursday night game of the year, I’m going with the under.
