Office Pool Picks: Week 1

September 7, 2017

The NFL season is back and so too are my Office Pool Picks. Week 1 is always a tough challenge for handicappers, but don’t let that stop you from playing.

Here are my Week 1 picks for all your favorite office pool formats – Confidence Pool, Survivor and Against the Spread:

CONFIDENCE POOL
15 Patriots vs. KC
14 Texans vs. JAC
13 Rams vs. IND
12 Falcons at CHI
11 Panthers at SF
10 Steelers at CLE
09 Packers vs. SEA
08 Cowboys vs. NYG
07 Broncos vs. LAC
06 Bengals vs. BAL
05 Vikings vs. NO
04 Lions vs. ARI
03 Bills vs. NYJ
02 Eagles at WAS
01 Titans vs. OAK

SURVIVOR PICK
Each week I’ll offer up my “playing it safe” and my “out on the limb” pick for your elimination pool:

Playing it safe – Patriots
This is a great spot for New England. They get to host the Chiefs at home as they hoist another Super Bowl Championship flag. Kansas City has a great D, but the unit will have its hand full here and the Chiefs’ offense won’t be able to keep pace.

Out on a limb – Texans
Anytime you roll with a team that is starting Tom Savage at quarterback it’s risky. However, with Blake Bortles lining up on the opposite side, the Texans’ defense is going to have a field day. I’m buying in to the team winning one for the community as it recovers from Hurricane Harvey. Call me sentimental, but I’m all in on Houston on Sunday.

AGAINST THE SPREAD

Pick of the Week
Texans -5

Other Plays to Consider
Patriots -9
Lions +1.5
Rams -3
Over 50 GB/SEA
