Kentucky Derby winner Justify won the second leg of the Triple Crown as he beat a field of seven other horses to remain undefeated with a win in the 143rd Preakness Stakes at Pimilco Racecourse in Baltimore.
Mike Smith guided the colt through another sloppy track to half-length victory, completing the 1 3/16 miles in 1:55.93.
Justify now gets a chance to become Bob Baffert’s second Triple Crown winner in three years and the 13th horse in history to win a Triple Crown on Saturday, June 9 in the Belmont Stakes.
