SURVIVOR
Each week I will pick two games, my “Play it Safe” selection as well as my “Out on a Limb” pick:

Play It Safe: Chargers at MIA
Each week I challenge myself to come up with something different, but then I remember that’s not the object. Don’t get cute. The Chargers should roll Miami and by taking them you too will roll on to Week 5. I’m going back to pick on the Dolphins once again.

Out on a Limb: Colts vs. OAK
The Colts are so much better than people thought they would be when they lost Andrew Luck. In July, they were my pick to win the Super Bowl though. Even without Luck, they are a legitimate playoff contender. The Raiders are not. Look for Indy to win big as they host the Raiders.

THURSDAY NIGHT SPECIAL
I am moving my complete “Against the Spread” plays to a separate article that will run each Saturday or Sunday morning this season. In its place here, I am introducing a new Thursday night betting recommendation. My starting Thursday night bankroll for the purposes of this article is $1000.

Starting Balance: $1000
Current Balance: $1135

The Pick:
$110 – GB -3.5

The Packers are surprisingly sitting at 3-0 and the defense has been a big reason why. Playing on a short week, I usually lean with the home team and given how banged up Philadelphia is the Eagles appear to have their work cut out for them here. Green Bay wins by a touchdown or better.
