SURVIVOR
Each week I will pick two games, my “Play it Safe” selection as well as my “Out on a Limb” pick:

Play It Safe (1-0): Browns vs. HOU
The Texans surprised me last week for sure, but the Browns are going to not let that happen again in this one. Cleveland’s 1-2 punch of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt will be too much for Houston’s defense to handle and the Dawg Pound is going to make it very tough on the visitors in the team’s home opener.

Out on a Limb (1-0): Broncos at JCK
For anyone that has followed my picks for a while knows how much I hate to go with road teams early in the season. I did it last week with the 49ers and I am going to it again here with Denver. The Broncos got hit hard by injuries on both sides of the ball in Week 1 which adds more risk, but I can’t get the Jacksonville dud out of my mind.

THURSDAY NIGHT SPECIAL
You can get my complete “Against the Spread” plays to a separate article that will run each Saturday or Sunday morning this season. However, we will kick things off weekly here with my Thursday night betting recommendation. My starting Thursday night bankroll for the purposes of this article is $1000.

Starting Balance: $1000
Current Balance: $1100

The Pick:
$100 to win $145 Giants ML (+145)

Last week’s over was in the bag well before the game ended, giving us a 1-0 start with our Thursday Night special. This week the game isn’t as clear. As much as I respect the Washington defense, the fact the team lost Ryan Fitzpatrick cools any mojo I was feeling about the Football Team’s playoff chances. The Giants are better than they played last week and in a conference tilt where I don’t expect a ton of scoring I’ll take the appeal of the money line of +145 in a true coin flip on my board.
